California Workplace Harassment Training for Supervisors
This course was created by subject matter expert and attorney Andrew Easler, Esq. and was created to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for workplace harassment training for supervisors found in Ca. Gov. Code § 12950.1.
This two-hour interactive course containing California state-specific content includes the following topics, presented by trainers with knowledge and expertise in the prevention of harassment, discrimination and retaliation:
- Information and practical guidance regarding the federal and state statutory provisions concerning the prohibition against and the prevention and correction of sexual harassment;
- The remedies available to victims of sexual harassment in employment;
- Practical examples aimed at instructing supervisors in the prevention of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation;
- Information and practical guidance regarding the prevention of abusive conduct;
Training also includes an exploration and contextualization of harassment in the workplace with practical examples presented by trainers with knowledge and expertise in the field of:
- Gender identity,
- Gender expression, and
- Sexual orientation.
This course is required under Ca. Gov. Code § 12950.1 for all supervisory employees of any employer in the State of California having five or more employees.
Specifically, the law states: ". . . an employer having five or more employees shall provide at least two hours of classroom or other effective interactive training and education regarding sexual harassment to all supervisory employees and at least one hour of classroom or other effective interactive training and education regarding sexual harassment to all nonsupervisory employees in California."
Further, the statute provides that, after initial training, ". . . each employer covered by this section shall provide sexual harassment training and education to each employee in California once every two years."
